Hello again angels! Today I have a foundation review for you. I haven't done a proper makeup review in ages so I'm excited to put this one together.

I recently found out my favourite foundation was discontinued so I went on the hunt to find a new one. For reference I have combination skin, it's oily in the T-zone and dry around the outer parts of my face. I tend to like a dewy finish but I find that matte or semi-matte finishes work ok too since they end up getting a bit more dewy looking with wear due to my oily areas.

I'm also a little bit paler than I used to be since I haven't been leaving my house much due to COVID so I can safely buy Korean foundations in #21 instead of #23 but for this one I thought the #21 shades were a little too light so I stuck with my usual shade choice.

I picked up this rom&nd Zero Layer Foundation Special Set from Olive Young Global for $30 USD and it comes with a very peculiar shaped foundation brush. I picked it up in the shade #04 Natural Beige. I opted for this shade as Petal Beige was out of stock and it ended up matching me perfectly!

I have to say that I wasn't really sure about the foundation brush at first but after using it as directed by the company, I fell in love! It's super soft but dense so it performs a bit like a beauty blender, leaving you with zero streaks. The tapered wedge shape is perfect for getting into all the little nooks and crevices of your face so you don't miss any spots.
It really creates a flawless finish and evenly distributes all of the product. The finish is very matte, to the point where I don't need to powder it and it won't really transfer either! I like to spray it down with a dewy setting spray to give a little life back into it and honestly it looks like skin at that point.
Color/Pigmentation: ♥♥♥♥
The color on this is spot on. It does oxidize a little so anticipate that it may be about half a shade darker once you go out but if you've applied it properly and evenly, this won't really be noticeable. I only noticed it by looking at the swatch on my hand after I wiped off the excess product.

Coverage: ♥♥♥
This foundation is medium to full coverage. It does a good job of covering spots and discoloration without the use of a concealer though I still prefer to use one just to be safe. I have a lot of natural redness on my cheeks and since it's a large area I don't usually use concealer there, but this was able to cover it all up. A little of this goes a long way!! I don't even use half a pump for my whole face so this will last a long time.

Texture: ♥♥♥♥
I'm personally not a fan of matte finish foundations because they tend to look almost chalky on me. This one looks really natural and very close to my skin after applying. I've tried applying with a sponge and with the brush that it came with and it definitely looks better with the brush. I think if you work with a sponge you'll need to do multiple thin layers to get the same effect because if you apply it like the pictures above it will be too heavy and cakey.

Wear Over Time: ♥♥♥♥
I can't tell you how incredible the wear on this is so I'll show you some pictures. These are unedited (no filter, no color adjustment, and no powder touch ups) so you can see how this held up through my day.
This is my natural skin with nothing on it
so you can see the discoloration in my cheeks
After about 3 hours you can see that
it still looks really good. A little bit of shine
going on but that's pretty good for a summer day.
There's a lot more oil going on now and you
can see that it's starting to break down
the foundation near the corner of my mouth
and around my nose. The rest of it still looks
pretty good, but the shine is getting a bit much
so I would have powdered or touched up at this point.
Overall: ♥♥♥♥
I adore this foundation and I'm glad that I was able to figure out how to apply it well otherwise I would've hated it. The coverage and finish are incredible and perfect for mask wear as it has minimal transfer, especially if you set it with a powder or spray. I don't need a lot of product to do my whole face so a whole bottle, while being close to $40 CAD, is not bad (it's the same price even if you get the foundation alone without the brush). I think you really need the brush to get this to work well with minimal effort so I would recommend getting them together first and then buying the foundation on its own when you need to restock. I took a point off because I don't always want to sport a very matte look and even when I use a dewy setting spray on this, it won't give me that glass skin glow like a BB cream does so I don't recommend this for that "no makeup" or every day look even though they say you can use it that way but that's just my preference.
I hope you enjoyed this review and found it helpful! I'll see you again soon~
