[Jan 2024] Dineout @ Jungle Room

Hello again angels! It was Dineout Festival time again so it was time to get ready for some good eats. If you're not familiar, Dineout is an annual food festival event in my city. I only recently starting participating in this again so I was excited to see what we had in store this year. You can read about our last year's adventure here.
It's been cold as shit in January these last few years so the day we planned this outing was no exception. It was raining too and in general, very miserable out.

I didn't really feel like dressing up because of the rain so I kept things casual. I only had like 20 minutes to get ready so I did my usual makeup and made it a little more smokey in the droop. I really liked how it turned out! ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ )
We went to this new restaurant that opened called Jungle Room. They have an Indonesian and Japanese fusion inspired menu that's combined with French cooking techniques. The interior is so luxurious and chic. I didn't take many photos because it was quite dim but here are some from google to give you an idea of how beautiful it was. You can also check out their instagram here for more up to date pics.
We were sat in this library looking corner and it was so cozy. They updated the space so instead of the low little coffee table in the picture above we had a taller dining table.

We had a set menu for the night but they had some oysters on special so we ordered some to share. They were delicious and I loved how they tabasco came in this dropper bottle.
For my set I chose the tuna tartare, beef ribs, and ice cream sando. Everything was sooo tasty and the ribs literally fell off the bone when they were plating so they just put the bone on top of the meat LMAO ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-
Since my friends and I are gluttons and eating is our favorite group activity, after dinner we went to get bingsu at a cafe down the street (⸝⸝ᵕᴗᵕ⸝⸝)
We shared the tiramisu bingsu that was on special at the time. It was so decadent!! (*´▽`*) I had so much fun that night. I can't wait to visit these two spots again, they were amazing!!
That's all for now, see you in the next post -`♡´-

[Feb 2023] Dineout Vancouver Festival

Hello again angels, today I'll be sharing about the Dineout Festival! I haven't participated in dineout for quite some time now,  the last one I went to was in 2016. I just wasn't interested in any of the restaurants or menu sets so I stopped going.

My high school besties and I have been trying to hang out more but it's been difficult with everyone's work schedule (and especially since one of them is a flight attendant so they're always out and about). We decided to try and get together at least once a month for dinner so we picked to do dineout together this month.
I didn't really like my makeup for this look, I didn't have a particular vision in mind and just sort of auto-piloted it. I was a bit heavy handed too so a lot of it came out darker and more intense than I would've liked but oh well 😓
For the outfit I wore this d.i.a top I got from Kohi. It's so funny because it's supposed to come with a detachable sleeve but Kohi never got it so I had to buy a random set of knit sleeves to kind of match it 💀
Here's a snap of it from a magazine
I swear the mismatched sleeves only bothers me a little hahaha 😅
We decided to go to one of our favourite restaurants. I always loved their set menu and this year it sounded really tasty.
Everything was delicious but the portions were a bit small this time around so my friends ended up going to a diner nearby to get hamburgers for "dessert" 🤪

I had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back again next time!
Anyways that all for this post. Thanks for reading and I'll see you next time 💖

[Old Post] Dineout Vancouver 2016

Hello hi I'm still alive! I hope you guys are well. I'm just going through my backlog and pushing out these long overdue posts now so please bear with me. Every year, we have a food festival in January where restaurants set up custom menus for you to sample their best dishes. This year, the menus were priced at $20, $30, and $40. I didn't really make the most of this event in previous years, but this year I went all out. I visited 6 lovely restaurants, some were a little disappointing, but overall I had a great experience.
The first one I went to was Miku. It's a very popular Japanese restaurant here. I was a bit disappointed by the portion sizes but everything was incredibly delicious. Catherine came with me to this one too so it was nice to catch up. Unfortunately we didn't take a picture together :(

Next stop was Sai Woo. It's right outside of Chinatown and it turns out one of my good high school friends worked there! He made sure we had a great dinner and we were not disappointed at all.
My makeup for that night:
The next place I went to was Forage. I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant so I was excited to try it. My friend's dad works as a chef there too so that was kind of a neat coincidence. The man cooks a mean salmon. If you've never had bison carpaccio then oh my god you're missing out in life.
Next stop was Kobe for teppanyaki! I've always passed by this place but I was put off from the way it looked on the outside. It looked really expensive so I never thought about eating there. I'm glad I was able to try it though because it was super tasty!!
If you've never been to a teppanyaki place I really recommend you try it once. It's kinda gimmicky but it's pretty entertaining if you go with a big group of people!

This next place was super disappointing. I went with a group of good friends from elementary school. We had planned a last minute dinner at this place called Chewies. The menu sounded okay it was a lot of seafood/New Orleans style food. The service was really slow and the food was subpar at best. We all ended up getting sick the next day too so I was pretty upset with this experience. Food poisoning is the worst!
Our last stop was a cute little French restaurant called Bistro Pastis. I heard good things about this place too but I don't think the experience lived up to the hype. It was still a nice dinner though!
There was also a hot chocolate festival going on around the same time as Dineout, so of course we had to get in on the yummy cocoa specials!
Red Velvet Hot Chocolate!
I don't remember what this was
but it was a dark chocolate cocoa
Overall I was pretty satisfied with my dineout experience. I've never eaten at so many nice restaurants before since money was so tight. It felt really nice to just go out and have a nice dinner with friends. If you happen to be in town, I highly recommend you check some of these places out! They're well worth the trip, I promise.

Anyways, that's all for this post. Sorry it took so long to get this out! Catch you next time~
