Hi angels! I hope you're doing well. It's getting awfully chilly here and the sun goes down at like 4pm so I'm in agony. I can't wait until I can take my holiday break (˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥)
Today from the backlog I'm going to talk about the Michelin starred birthday dinner I had with my high school besties. We went to Published on Main which is a 1 star restaurant here in Vancouver!
I started off the day easy; I actually took the day off because I was accompanying my ex bestie to the hospital where her mom was having surgery. We decided to stop by a café near my house on the way to grab a little treat first.
I didn't know it then, but this friendship would soon fall apart and this would be the last time I ever spoke to her mom. After my dad passed away later in the fall, our friendship would end and she would cut contact with me so I wouldn't get any more updates about how her mom was doing. I recently learned that she passed earlier this year and this day was the last interaction we would share.
Her mom was always kind to me, especially growing up when I didn't have a good home life. She always welcomed me at her house and treated me well. My visit with her at the hospital that day was brief but sweet. I'm grateful that I was able to tell her I loved her & vice versa. It was actually a very similar final interaction I had with my dad before he passed.
Although it doesn't make me feel any less sad about her passing and that I could not attend her funeral service, I am comforted to know that we shared a heartfelt final exchange. I hope she forever lives in peace and paradise.
After the hospital I headed over to the restaurant to meet my friends Alex, Branden and Steven. This was our first time here so we were all very excited to try the food; especially since it had been awarded a Michelin star just the year prior.
Of course I snuck off to take some selfies in the restroom (⸝⸝> ᴗ•⸝⸝)

My new years resolution in 2023 was to take more photos with my friends so here's us fulfilling that resolution and also starting a new annual tradition where we take the exact same photo each year and then take a photo with that photo!
Overall I felt like my life was at a wonderful place with a trending upwards trajectory. I had so much to look forward to at this time and I was making so much progress in several fronts of my personal life. I definitely felt like I was starting the year off strong, but I would come to learn I had yet to experience was "strong" really was ( • ᴖ • 。)
