Hello my angels, it's been a hot minute! I haven't been up to much lately, in fact if I'm being honest I've been in a pretty bad place mentally. This pandemic has worn me down to the point where it's hard for me to even do basic things like laundry or dishes without feeling an overwhelming sense of dread and despair. The fact that we've been living like this for a year now and people still aren't taking health orders seriously is so stressful and depressing lol
In an attempt to take better care of myself I signed up for some meal delivery services last year when I finished moving homes. I felt like it was too difficult to plan every single meal since I had to work at home as well, and found myself ordering takeout almost every other day.
I tried out HelloFresh first but didn't like how much packaging came with each delivery. It came in a giant cardboard box and all the ingredients were packaged separately in plastic which meant I had to take out my recycling pretty much every single day. The portion sizes were also very inconsistent so that was kind of annoying.
I researched some more and found a local service called FreshPrep and have been loving it since! They send my orders in a reusable freezer bag and all the ingredients come in recyclable or compostable packaging. You can actually put the rinsed out plastic packages back in the freezer bag and the company will recycle them for you so that's really nice!
I don't order every single week anymore as I found there were some days I wanted to be lazy and just have instant noodles or order some takeout, but these services are great as it offers some variety into your diet and lets you explore different cuisines and cooking techniques! I'll share some recipes I made below.
If you want to try these services out you can use my referral codes by clicking on the links:

Here are some recipes I got from HelloFresh, they were super tasty and easy to make:
This was super easy and fun to do, I actually really like how this eye shape turned out. I hope you give their tutorial a try for yourself!
Here are some recipes I got from HelloFresh, they were super tasty and easy to make:
Crispy skin barramundi with green beans, potato wedges, and creamy lemon garlic dip |
Salmon with baked orzo |
Shrimp scampi with lemon rice pilaf |
Lemon chicken and mushrooms on a kale ceasar salad |
These are some recipes I got from FreshPrep. I have to note that with FP the ingredients come prepared better than HelloFresh. Both will give you pre-measured ingredients for the recipe and sometimes it will be cut for you but I found FP cuts/portions things better than HF. That might be important for you if you care about that sort of thing~
Cocoa rubbed short ribs with garlic potatoes and coleslaw |
Moroccan spiced chicken thighs with chickpeas, quinoa, spinach, and mint |
Roasted halloumi and veggie kebabs with olive oil herb sauce and garlic potatoes |
Tuna poke with cucumber, edamame, avocado, and sriracha mayo |
Spinach and goat cheese quiche with roasted mushrooms and marinated tomatoes |
Flat iron tagliata with crispy rosemary potatoes & parmesan arugula salad |
Pan roasted beef roast with horseradish mustard, sauteed mushrooms & roasted potatoes |
I hope you enjoyed that delicious food porn haha. I was only going to post like 1 or 2 pics but I realized they all looked so good I just had to keep sharing 🥺
Anyways the other day my gyaru bff Mando shared a really neat gyaru tutorial which I tried to apply on myself, here were the results:
