🎉MA*RS Outfit and Soft Make✨

Hello angels! Thank you for all the love and support on my last post. I hope that it was helpful and informative, especially for newbie gals. Recently I haven't been posting anywhere much because I've been dealing with some very serious family things. It took a lot out of me and most days I was too exhausted to even cook meals for myself, but now I think the worst is over with so I can get back to my usual routines and such.

Anyways, enough about that! Today is my best friend's birthday so I decided to doll up for her. We had a video call going with a few of her other friends and we played final fantasy together. Her fiancé worked with me to get her this gorgeous strawberry and bubbly box and she absolutely loved it!

Here's my little look for today; I finally put on the MA*RS cardigan and romper outfit I bought a while back. I absolutely love how this all looks together with the otk boots. I really wish I could wear this out 😭

Outfit details:

✨cardigan & romper: MA*RS
✨belt: yesstyle
✨boots: chuu
✨purse: fashion nova

For the makeup I wanted to do a little bit of a softer look but have a bolder droop since I tend to lean towards more subtle droops out of habit. I picked up this habit a long time ago so that I could make my gyaru makeup more wearable for work/normie events because I wasn't confident in my look then. But I've grown a lot since then and as the saying goes, you either use it or lose it, so I'm taking this chance to brush up on my gal make skills.

Products used:

✨abh clear brow gel
✨etude house tint my 4-tip brow pen
✨pony effect seamless foundation in natural ivory
✨unny club full cover tip concealer in 1.5
✨fenty diamond bomb in how many carats
✨fenty match stix in amber
✨peripera v-shading in 03 hazel gray
✨3ce velvet lip tint in pink break as blush
✨nars smudge proof eyeshadow base
✨morphe icy fantasy palette
✨abh amrezy & norvina palette
✨dolly wink liquid eyeliner
✨etude house curl fix mascara
✨clio kill lash superproof mascara
✨3ce velvet lip tint in near and dear (line) & new nude (fill)
✨romand glasting water gloss in #00 meteor track
✨lashes from koko & aliexpress (check out my post here for links)
✨lenses are viskon signature paris brown from honey color

Quick tangent here but I've been using a foundation brush from rom&nd lately instead of a sponge and I've been loving the results! I don't think I'll go back to using a sponge again. It was my favorite method previously because I couldn't find a brush I like my foundation transferred too much with that method even with setting powder & spray. I'm not sure if I was doing things wrong or maybe my skin is just too oily for that method of application but now that I have this brush I feel like I'm literally photoshopping my face every time I put on my base makeup lol

BTW I also picked up the foundation in the picture since it came in a special box set but I haven't used it yet. I'll be sure to do a review on it when I break it open though so stay tuned for that if you're interested in it!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely weekend! 💖

✨ 5 FAQs & Tips Every Gyaru Newbie Should Know (+lots of links!) ✨

Hello angels! Sorry for disappearing a bit, work has been picking up a bit for me so I haven't really had the time to plan out and make content for this blog. I'm going to try and queue up some posts but everything I have in mind is rather time consuming so I'm afraid they may just come out slower than I want because I'd rather do them right than half-heartedly.

Today I wanted to make a post to address all the newbies that have joined our gyaru community recently! It's wonderful to see more activity in both the SnG Facebook group and the 109 Gals Discord, but I noticed we tend to see all the same questions being asked over and over again.

I thought it would be a good idea to make a general master post of FAQs/tips that I think every newbie gal should know for ease of reference and to give the veteran gals a little bit of an escape from having to answer the same questions over and over again ^^;;

I'm hoping this post will provide you with as much information as possible and point you in as the right direction to the answers you are looking for without having you absolutely exhaust and overwhelm the veteran community with these very commonly and frequently asked questions.

Also big disclaimer that your mileage may vary with the resources shared here depending on your location and such so please keep that in mind!

If you know of any other resources that should be shared here, please link them in the comments and I will add them into the post!

1. Can I be Gyaru? (and any variation of this question, example: ~with dark hair, no lenses, no lashes, etc)
This is probably one of the most asked questions on any platform and the answer is absolutely yes BUT everything else must be extra bold and on point to make up for anything you choose to leave out.

Lizzie wrote a wonderful post about this specific topic so I will link it here. Please give it a read through as she touches on lots of variations of this question. Ray also wrote a very nice post on getting started in gyaru and you can read that here as well as a painful truths about gyaru post that I highly recommend you check out.

✨ Tips:

  • Hair color does not matter, you can literally be gyaru with any hair color whether it is light or dark. The important point to note here is the styling and general upkeep of the hair so that it fits with whatever substyle you are going for

  • Whichever color you pick to rock, make sure your eyebrows match appropriately (either 1-2 shades darker or lighter). The tone matters as well so keep that in mind when doing your makeup!
  • It is popular among gyaru to shave down their brows and completely redraw them. Depending on your style it can be redrawn in any shape! You don't have to shave your brows if you like them but keep in mind that most gyaru have very short and light brows so if you have naturally thick and full brows you may want to give them a trim or hide them with the glue technique
  • Please buy your lenses from a reputable source and make sure your prescription is up to date. Pay attention to the materials of the lenses and don't wear them for prolonged periods of time.
  • White eyeliner: I know this is a huge hot topic in the comm but I'm gonna come out and say it, this shit is not It. Some gals (and I'm talking mostly the jp ones) can make this work but for the most part when gaijins do it this makes your makeup look very cosplay-ish. Instead try to work with champagne/gold/pearl shadows or glitters. This will give you a similar effect but provide a much softer look. You are free to disagree with me of course, this bit is just my opinion, but a lot of gals in the comm also share this opinion so you may get crit on it should you post a look with white liner and it doesn't look right.

2. Is this (item/outfit/whatever) considered gyaru or ___ substyle?
Alright, so I say this out of exhaustion and not from a malicious place but PLEASE for the love of god do not come at us with this question until you've actually researched gyaru and the different substyles. It is honestly not that difficult to gauge whether or not your hello kitty hot topic tshirt and fishnets combo is an agejo fit ok?

✨ Tips:

  • Modern day gyaru is extremely accessible. You can pretty much wear anything and be considered gyaru so long as your hair and makeup are on point. The only exception to this of course is if you are picking a substyle that has a very particular and specific look such as himegyaru for example.

3. Where can I buy lashes/lenses/clothing for gyaru?
The usefulness of this section will largely depend on where you are and all that jazz, but in general you can buy gyaru clothes from brand webstores directly, second hand markets like Fril/Mercari/Facebook resell groups, and of course any local stores you may have.

✨ Tips:

  • A lot of shopping services will handle the direct transactions with the sellers for you so you can feel free to ask them questions about the items you are purchasing! Many of them also offer consolidated shipping so you can get multiple items from different people and the shopping service will package them all together to send them to you.
  • Be careful of shipping fees when using a shopping service! Most of them are calculated by weight so be wary of ordering things like shoes or large coats in the same parcel as it could run you a very pretty penny after fees, taxes and duties
  • Currently these are my favorite stores for purchasing lenses (not sponsored):
📌 Additional Reading:

4. Do I need to tan to be gyaru/self tanner recs please
No, you don't need to tan to be gyaru but some people prefer to tan or use self tanners. I am personally not knowledgeable in this area so I have compiled some recs from the community below.

✨ Recs:

  • Dove DermaSpa Summer Revived
  • MineTan
  • St Moriz Tanning Mousse
  • Tanologist
  • Coco & Eve
  • L'Oreal Paris Sublime Medium Self Tanner
  • Jergens Tanning Body Lotion
  • Doll Tan

5. How does ___ jp brand fit/is ___ jp brand plus-size friendly?
I'm gonna be straight up: most Japanese brands (or Asian brands in general) are not plus-size friendly. They often operate on a one size fits most mentality so you can expect most clothing items to fit sizes xs-s (sometimes will fit up to a medium but it depends on the article of clothing).

If you have any sort of bust or your weight sits in your shoulders/arms, hips, or thighs, you will likely run into sizing issues with Asian brands.

✨ Tips:

  • Try to find the exact measurements of the clothing you're looking at when shopping as that is the most accurate way to gauge whether or not you'll fit
  • Items such as oversized sweaters, cardigans, jackets, and one piece dresses can be a little more generous in sizing so keep your eyes out for deals on these kinds of items
  • Pay attention to the fabrics and materials of these items as some of them may stretch or shrink with wear & wash or require special care
  • Be careful of purchasing replicas. Brands like Liz Lisa and MA*RS are very heavily replicated so do your research carefully! There's nothing wrong with owning replicas btw as there are actually lots of really well made ones out there, but there are also tons of poorly made ones so you want to do your due diligence to make sure you're getting what you're paying for.

That's all I had for this post! Again, if you have or know of other resources that would fit well in this post please leave them in the comments below and I will add them in~

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you found this helpful and informative. Please share this to all your newbie gal pals and let me know if you have any other questions or topics that I should address! If I get enough points I will make a part 2 to this series :3c

✨ Birthday Weekend & Haul 🎉

Hello angels~ I'm sorry it's been such a long time since my last post. I needed to take some time for myself to process the horrible hate crimes we saw happen in Atlanta. Since then, I have been using my platforms to bring awareness and speak out about anti-Asian violence.

I actually started a fundraiser on Facebook for Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta, and we ended up passing the $1000 goal I set (on my birthday too)! I feel like it's such a small effort but hopefully that will help make a difference. If you would like to learn more or donate, you can do so by checking out the following links:

I didn't have much planned for my birthday this year, I honestly expected it to be about the same as last year since the COVID restrictions in my city are still relatively the same. My best friend surprised me with a cute little white chocolate strawberry mousse cake. It was nice to see her since I haven't seen her in probably 6-8 months.
My boyfriend also brought me a box of cakes from a shop that specializes in crepe cakes, and my other best friends ordered me some fancy sushi.
We spent the night watching movies on discord and it was really nice to just have a moment with my friends again since I haven't been outside, not even for groceries, for like.... idk man literally 4 or 5 months at this point? I sometimes go for a drive with my boyfriend and maybe grab a bubble tea but even then I can probably only count like 1-2 times I've actually done that :(
As you can tell from the title of this post, I also went ahead and treated myself! I was browsing (I forget if it was Mercari or Fril) for the first time and came across my dream MA*RS cardigan for a pretty cheap price. I also found a MA*RS romper for literally $10 so I said "why not" and instantly sold my credit card info. They came around the same day my Sephora order did so it was honestly one of the best birthday surprises ever!

The cardigan is much thicker than I thought it would be and super soft. I'm actually so in love and have to physically hold myself back from living in it haha. The romper is really cute and surprisingly fits very well! I can't wait for warmer weather and COVID to fuck off so I can be cute outside >:3c
I also picked up a cute crop top and skirt from Lizzie. I saw them listed on her depop and instantly thought they would make a cute onee outfit together! (pics are from her listing)
I was a little apprehensive about the skirt since I haven't worn a print this loud and floral in a while but I'm absolutely in love. I can't wait to wear these out!
I put together a quick little look with the Amrezy palette I got from my Sephora order. I love the glitters so much and the matte shades are very pigmented. It's a nice change of pace from the South Korean brands I usually get as those are more sheer and better suited for everyday looks. I think between this palette and the Norvina palette I got from Mando, I'm all set for glam palettes now. I can't wait to try out some looks with the bolder colours in this palette 😇

I used the shades: waisted, barb,
anastasia, cupcake, semsa, and yugo
That's all for now! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you guys have a lovely week ✨
